One can easily access the internet without disclosing his IP address to anybody in the world with the help of the web proxy which is otherwise called as the web server. The doubt may arise regarding the repercussion if the IP address is let known to others. It is obviously true that it is not going to matter much. The main problem arises only when the hacker peeps in between the IP address. In general the hackers of the computer will all the time scour the internet in search of the IP address that is unprotected. Once the IP addressed is identified by them, then they will keep on having an attempt for hacking the same with the malicious intention. To have control on these activities by the hackers, proxy servers will perform as a deterrent.

In general, the working of all the proxy servers is the same. The proxy server’s home page has to be visited first by the users and then the websites URL that is required for surfing has to be typed in the proxy’s search box. The parallel web page will be fetched by the proxy server and the same will be displayed on the screen if the URL is a legitimate one. After all these actions, the user can surf the web sites as is done in the absence of proxy. The time consumption for completion of the process will be more for the first time when the web sites are accessed.

The two prime purpose of the proxy servers are hiding of the computer’s original IP address from the remaining of the internet and increasing the speed of browsing by caching the required web pages from the websites that are accessed.

Apart from the above, the proxy servers can also be used for different purposes. The content filters can be enabled for restricting the kind of contents to be browsed with the proxy.
